So this cycle I’ve decided to once again track my O date, which also allows me to track and chart my TWW symptoms much more accurately. Since my 2 year old son John doesn’t always sleep through the night without waking at one inhuman hour or the other, charting my BBT seemed like a rather large waste of time. Temping is a great way to get to know your body, and is the most effective way to determine exactly when you O’d; in order to do it with any measure of accuracy, you need to be consistent every single day, and you’d need to make sure that you are able to get at least a solid 4-5 hours of constant sleep. When Bubby was younger (somewhere around 10-14 months old) he was sleeping from 7:30 pm until 6:45 am the next morning almost every single night. Charting my BBT was very simple for me, and I even got to where I really enjoyed it. But that was before John’s Autism had really started becoming symptomatic. Troubles going to/staying asleep are very characteristic of what is referred to as “Classic Autism.” It’s not uncommon for John to wake twice, sometimes three times a night, making it very difficult at times to get enough hours of constant sleep at the exact same time every night.
So. BBT charting is out – what’s next on my list? We’ve already established that while checking/charting my CM may well “add to” my monthly charting, I do not produce nearly enough of it to rely on CM to predict O. And I may as well just forget about charting my CP – hell, half the time I can’t tell the difference between high/soft/open and low/firm/closed! (It always seems to feel exactly the same way to me!)
Nope. None of that mess for me this cycle. I’m going the cheap route; I ordered a batch of Wondfo OPK test strips on eBay and paid somewhere around $5.00-ish for them, including shipping. (They expire the end of next month, so I got them really cheap!) I usually have a rather short LH surge, and have missed it on occasion by only testing once a day. So I’ve been testing 2x a day since CD 8 with little progress … until night before last. The test line (which needs to be as dark or darker than the control line to be considered a positive result) slowly started getting darker!
Then last night (CD 11), I was happy to see that the result was almost positive! Needless to say, Matt has needed to pry me off of himself with a crowbar this weekend! Especially considering his chain of command surprised him with a 4 day weekend for doing so well in school last week!! I couldn’t wait to get up this morning and dip another OPK, just to see if I had finally gotten my +OPK.
I’m almost stupid excited right now! Matt and I have been BD-ing for the past few days, which is PERFECT timing, and now I’ve got some idea of when I’m O-ing! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it turned out that I didn’t need to see the RE after all?!?
